After some searching around, I found a safe alternative to Gatorade. I've been drinking it straight for about 3 years now and frankly I'm tried of it and I don't think it's the greatest thing to be constantly drinking.
I tried coconut water, not my thing. Even though I did find a brand I liked, it doesn't sit with my weird stomach's wants and needs. So I looked for non-coconut recipes. They're hard to find, but I decided to ask my nutritionist friend, Nora for some tips and VIOLA! she found me some recipes.
She's also convinced me to try Nuun water, which is a blessing, especially when sick! I got the strawberry lemonade from my last Vitacost order!
Vitacost is super awesome with supplying me with the other vitamins and things I take to maintain my POTS. They have a wide selection, great prices, and they deliver in a reasonable time. I also managed to purchase the Himalayan salt for the electrolyte drink from there!
Speaking of which, here it is!
I used a regular gallon container. You can use what you like to store it, but it might alter your recipe a bit. Which is another thing. You have to make this to your taste. I did some experimenting with a small batch first before making the bigger one. The recipe below is for a gallon.
Electrolyte Drink
3 oranges
1/2 lemon
1/4 teaspoon of Himalayan salt or salt of your choice
1/4 honey
3 liters of water
Fill up the container with water. Juice the oranges and lemon. Add to mixture. Stir. Then add salt and honey. Finally, give it a stir and taste! Feel free to add extra things and or more of the ingredients to your liking.
Hope this helps some of you out there!
